This is one of our conversions:
1974 F250 4x4 Cummins ZF 5spd w/A/C.
click the picture for the whole story.
Just a few words first. We do conversions and we use the stock frames
without modification. You do not have to cut the cross member on the 1980
and newer trucks. We build pulleys and mounts to use your own Ford system. The
Dodge A/C compressor sits near the frame and with the 1994 newer compressors
the A/C manifold will fit next to the crossmember. Secondly, you can use either the NV
4500 or the ZF with our adapter. It will bolt to the Cummins and use the
Dodge flywheel and the Dodge starter. You just bolt a 94 or
newer Dodge clutch onto the flywheel and stuff that ZF in place. Please
use the correct input shaft bushing. We have those for sale as
well.
On the 79 and older trucks you do have to lower the front cross member
about
2 inches. you can either lower a center section or just notch it out to
fit with out loosing structural integrity. There is a 79 Ford truck here
local that packs a service body and pushes a V plow all winter with no effects
to steering or frame whatsoever. If you look you can see how it is cut out.
You can see how the
frame has been notched in the picture below. In the fourth picture below you can see the ZF 5spd in view there.
Please notice how the crossmember on this 79 Ford has been cut. It has
been trimmed about 2 inches in thickness in order to allow the pan to fit down
far enough. this has not weakened the truck. As you see it carries
a 900 lb Boss V plow out front.
Here is a 2001 F350 with a 2004 Common Rail ISB.
Here are a few pics of a 1996 Crew cab powerstroke, which we removed and we
installed a 6bt in it. They are mid project but will show that you do
not have to cut the frame. The automatic in the picture was removed for
an NV 4500.
Here is a 1991, a 1989, and a 1995 351 gasser that received a heart transplant.
Here is a custom built 1992/2002 F550 with a 2004 Cummins
